Why Jose Mourinho will lead Manchester United to the title this season

Without a shadow of a doubt, Manchester United are one of the biggest clubs on the planet and Jose Mourinho is a fantastic fit for the Old Trafford hot seat.

The Red Devils have failed to inspire confidence since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013 but this could be United’s time to climb back to the top of the Premier League table. With Mourinho at the helm, they are definitely in with a shout…

Mourinho was always destined to manage United one day – ever since his Porto side defied the odds to knock the Red Devils out of the Champions League back in 2004. On that day, United fans had to watch Mourinho celebrate extravagantly on the Old Trafford touchline but he could be rejoicing in a Reds title success at the end of the season.

The Portuguese outfit went on to win the competition and Mourinho was appointed as Chelsea manager; the rest is history. Despite his struggles at Stamford Bridge last season, the new United boss is still a fantastic manager and he could be the man to bring the Premier League title back to Old Trafford.

As of September 9th, United are priced at 3/1 to win the title and plenty of punters will fancy the 13-time winners to win another top flight crown. Leicester produced one of the most memorable title triumphs in Premier League history last season and bettors will be looking for David v Goliath odds at Betway in the hope of another shock success.

However, it is difficult to look past United this season – especially with Mourinho at the helm. The Reds boss managed to acquire all four of his main transfer targets in the summer window and the likes of Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimović and Eric Bailly will all play key roles for United throughout the campaign.

It would be foolish to claim that United’s name is on the trophy; there are a number of title contenders this time around. But if truth be told, Mourinho’s men are looking very strong and they are perhaps the most equipped for a sustained title challenge. After all, the Red Devils squad is looking much better than it was at the beginning of the summer…

There will be plenty of twists and turns along the way but United will be quietly confident of notching their 14th Premier League crown before the end of May. Pogba, Ibrahimović and Mourinho have helped to bring the fear factor back to Old Trafford and there is a positive buzz on the terraces. Only time will tell but it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see Wayne Rooney lifting the title at the end of the campaign – watch this space…
