Bayern Munich’s 2014/15 End-of-Season Awards

Bayern Munich have finished the 2014/15 season in German Bundesliga quite successfully. The season is now over and it’s the time for some transfer speculation and pre-season fixtures. Before diving into the new summer and getting the tension rising high, let’s have a look who did what for Bayern Munich in the last season of Bundesliga.

Bayern Munich Awards 2015:

1.Best Player

Bayern Munich is a perfect balanced team full of fantastic footballers. Each of the player has the ability to dominate in the pitch with their simple flick of foot. But, among all these stars, there is a man who stood above all others. His name is Arjen Robben. Robben has missed the last 8 matches in the Bundesliga season due to injury. Still he remains the only real candidate for the Bayern’s Player of the Year award.

In the 2014/15 season, Arjen Robben scored 19 goals and made 9 assists in 30 matches for the team. He is the saviour at times who dragged Bayern Munich from win to win in the quest for silverware.

2. Best Signing

Both Robert Lewandowski and Xabi Alonso were exceptionally well for Bayern in the large part of 2014/15 season. When the best signing is concerned, it is no other than Juan Bernat. He proved himself to be a brilliant choice for Guardiola’s team in the last season.

Juan Bernat stepped into the club following injury of David Alaba. He made himself comfortable in a very short time. Bernat played so well that it seemed like a player who has been playing in Bayern since childhood. He is truly an outstanding left-back for Bayern Munich this season.

3. Best Goal

It was no other than Robert Lewandowski’s amazing goal against Eintracht Frankfurt in April.

4. Worst Signing

The Morocco international Mehdi Benatia wasn’t actually a bad signing. Benatia just hasn’t that good at German weather. In this season of Bundesliga, he probably played a par season for Bayern Munich. Although, he was signed for such a huge amount of money from Roma in the last summer, he wasn’t exactly good enough to the German side.

His fellow mates like Alonso, Bernat, Lewandowski thrived a manner to get accustomed, but Mehdi Benatia failed in this case.

5. Best Individual Performance

The best individual performance of 2014/15 season came by the courtesy of Arjen Robben. He single-handedly took the task of dismantling Paderborn on February night. Bayern Munich won the game by 6-0 and Arjen Robben scored two goals and assisted two others in that match. The first goal was quite exceptional, when Robben touched to play in Lewandowski from the side. Besides, his 86th minute-goal wasn’t too bad either.

6. Most Improved Player

Bayern Munich have spent a lot of money in this summer to rebuild a talented squad. Among the other talents, it is the humble right-back Rafinha, who has made the biggest impact in Bayern this season.

The Brazil international has developed much very recently, making himself more than a back-up defender. Under Guardiola’s guidance, the 29-year has gained a new lease of life. Rafinha may not be the best footballer in the world, but he gave such an effort this season that he’s looking twice the player he once was in Bayern Munich.

7. Biggest Disappointment

The road to success was not so smooth for Bayern at all. During the Bundesliga campaign, the semi-final defeat to Dortmund in the DFB-Pokal was the notable one. But for many Bayern fans, the biggest disappointment came, when Bayern faced the first-leg defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League semi-finals.

Under Pep Guardiola, Bayern had a high hopes to challenge Barcelona in the Champions League. But, when Bayern came up against their manager’s former side, it didn’t happened exactly what they planned. The 3-0 loss will certainly the biggest disappointment for Bayern Munich this season. The failure planted a lot of doubt in the Bayern side.

8. Best Team Performance

The best team performance from Bayern came in the round of 16 of UEFA Champions League. The Guardiola’s side crashed Shakhtar Donetsk by 7-0 at Allianz Arena. There was a little worrying when Bayern had a 0-0 draw in Ukraine which had left a number of question marks over Bayern’s ability in this season. But the German champions roared with a perfect resounding home win in the 2nd leg.

It was a game in which every single player played their best. Goals were scored by Thomas Muller, Lewandowski, Ribery and Gotze by a complete defensive shutdown. The game was nothing but a best team performance for Bayern Munich.
