The US men’s National Team (USMNT) has added another friendly match to its world cup preparations. They will take on Belgium on June 12 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The closed –door match will take place just four days before the Americans take on Ghana in world cup 2014.
This agreement will give both national teams some final competitive testing. Pre world cup matches are always good for the main tournament. Already FIFA have announced the event.
“It will be a kind of training session for each side.”
Belgium Football Federation expressed their expectation per FIFA.
USA Soccer Team expects a full-blown friendly. But it sounds more like a scrimmage. Both the managers should assure their squad to remain sharp. They also need to keep fit both their key players during the final domestic match and after starting the group event of world cup.
Last May in Cleveland, both the teams faced off in a friendly match. USA Soccer Team loses the game. Christian Benteke provided the second half pair of goals which leaned Belgium to a 4-2 win.
Some believes that match is the main reason for this agreement. That game probably is inspiring both the teams to train together so close to the Brazil world cup 2014.
The USA Soccer Team was set to battle Nigeria, Turkey and Azerbaijan in the United States. These matches were to earn the ticket for the trip to world cup 2014.
Jurgen Klinsmann, the manager for USA Soccer Team has placed a major emphasis on current form. He will make up his line-up decisions based on the friendly matches and training sessions.
So there are chances of making or breaking of certain players to the final events. The decisions will be provided from the closed-door match probably. The midfield and the outsides of the back line positions are up for grabs.
Many people considers group G as the “Group of Death”, this year. The USA Soccer Team is in a group alongside Portugal, Germany and Ghana. So the United States have to earn three points against the black stars in the opening match. May be this will become the key to survive in group G.
Belgium is in Group H. They are with Russia, Algeria and South Korea. This group is much easier to navigate. Belgium will definitely hope the final training session with the USA Soccer Team is crisp and clean.
Where goalkeepers are concerned, natural process has almost always been to have one consistent goalkeeper. Also there is another much-less-heralded backup in the event of an injury to the consistent choice. Major football clubs across Europe have been laughing in the face of that natural so called process. They have been buying backup keepers who could easily start for other major clubs to have as a solid backup goalkeepers. This recent stockpiling of goalkeepers that we are trying to make list of the top 10 most valuable backup goalkeepers in soccer 2015.
We can easily figure out the fact by just looking at Chelsea. Being one of the famous and richest clubs in Europe as well as England, Chelsea still have Petr Cech on their list despite the return of Thibaut Courtois. They have taken him after an extremely successful loan spell with Atletico Madrid last season. There’s also the fact that Manchester City recently signed Malaga’s Willy Caballero as backup goalkeeper to support their prior choice Joe Heart.
Barcelona signed both Claudio Bravo and Marc-Andre ter Stegen following the departure of longtime number one goalkeeper Victor Valdes. Who is still available for any club to be found as prime or backup goalkeeper. Real Madrid recently signed Costa Rican goalkeeping hero Keylor Navas to act as backup for Spanish goalkeeping legend Iker Casillas. No doubt, sometimes it feels like the number one goalkeeper of his age is currently on the downswing of his career with the Spanish Giants Real Madrid.
All this to say, backup goalkeepers are becoming a hotter commodity than ever in soccer. It’s becoming increasingly obvious as this transfer window comes to a close.
These 10 goalkeepers are still worth decent amounts of money despite their status of having to warm the bench. Though they are found more capable of providing a decent challenge to the guy in front.
Here we are discussing and making the list of top 10 most valuable backup goalkeepers in soccer / football world. These ranks are totally based on their market value.
Let’s find, who is the most valuable backup goalkeeper in soccer world?
10. Pepe Reina
Present Club: Bayern Munich
He was well known for so long as the main man in Liverpool. It’s a little bit strange to see Pepe Reina act as a backup nowadays in Bayern Munich. At 32 years of age, he is probably fitting that would be more accepting of a role as a mentor for Manuel Neuer, who is arguably considered as the best goalkeeper in world football.
With Bayern expected to make a serious run once again for the Champions League trophy this season, it was probably hard for the Spaniard. He is currently considered the number 10th of the list – top 10 most valuable backup goalkeepers in soccer. His current market value is at $6.6 million, which is turned down undoubtedly.
Maarten Stekelenburg is currently on loan at Monaco after Fulham. The Dutch goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg is acting as the backup goalkeeper for Les Rouges et Blancs behind Danijel Subasic this season. Surprisingly he is barely entered his 30s and has gained 54 caps for the Dutch national soccer team.
Marten may be several years removed from his best days as a member of Ajax, still has a market value of $7.3 million. Which makes him the 9th most valued backup goalkeeper right now. Stekelenburg still comes with a decent price tag for any team to have.
Jack has been considered as England’s goalkeeper of the future. Probably that’s the cause behind, Roy Hodgson brought him along for Euro 2012 two years ago. His previous club Birmingham City is proof enough that he’s got plenty of potential as goalkeeper.
However the 21-year-old is likely to play the role of backup to Asmir Begovic at Stoke. Unless the Potters can secure a last-minute loan spell for him. He is currently considered the 8th in the list of top 10 most important backup goalkeepers in the world. His current market value is $7.3 million. And he may not really be content to warm the bench despite his young career. He is being sent on a sixth loan spell may not be something he particularly wants either.
Willy had a very successful time as the main man at Malaga in La Liga previously. He has been inexplicably snubbed time and time again from the Argentine national team. Willy Caballero’s recent signing with Manchester City means that his chances of playing for his country have decreased a bit. As Joe Heart remains the main guy at the Etihad Stadium, he may only be called upon in case of injury.
Still with $7.3 million market price, Willy is at number 7 in this list of 10 most valuable backup goalkeepers in soccer 2015. It’s uncertain as to how long Caballero will be content to just be the second-string keeper at City.
Michael Agazzi is probably the least recognizable name on this list. The Milan backup goalkeeper Michael Agazzi has built up a decent reputation for himself as the main goalkeeper at Cagliari. At Chievo Verona earlier this year then led to him moving to the San Siro. They also signed Diego Lopez from AC Milan Football Club.
The 30-year-old is rated with a market value of $8.8 million. This makes him rank at 6th in the list of most valued backup goalkeepers in soccer world. He may not have much of a chance to compete for time as the number one keeper if Lopez’s performances for the Rossoneri are consistently better. The fact that longtime keeper Christian Abbiati is still on their books surely doesn’t also provoke.
Vorm has been capped 15 times by the Dutch national team. He was also chosen as going to the World Cup this past summer as a member of the Oranje’s third place team. Michel Vorm’s recent signing with Tottenham Hotspur may come back to haunt him.
As Hugo Loris firmly entrenched as Spurs’ number one man, also evergreen American goalkeeper Brad Friedel still on their side, Michel Vorm may have a difficult time starting games at White Hart Lane. He is at fifth position considering the backup goalkeepers priority list. The former Swansea City keeper is rated at a market value of $8.8 million. Hopefully he may not stay in Tottenham for a terribly long sessions.
He has been following a great run by the Colombian national team to the quarterfinals of this summer’s 2014 World Cup, Brazil. Most obviously David Ospina needed to play for a bigger club than Nice in Ligue 1. He had been playing with them after moving overseas in 2008.
Arsenal may not necessarily be the answer for that problem. Although he’s clearly good enough to start for a major club. He will likely have to fight for playing time with the Gunners’ longtime number one Wojciech Szczesny now. With a market value of $10.3 million, Ospina is considered 4th of the most valuable backup goalkeepers in 2015 soccer world. The 25 year old still young goalkeeper need his competition which could potentially be fierce.
Claudio Bravo is currently in the starting role for Barcelona FC. As a result of the fact that promising young German keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen is out injured for some times. Once ter Stegen returns, Bravo may have to sit a number of games out for the Blaugrana.
He has been playing for the Chilean national team that made it past one of the World Cup’s round. He was the longtime number one for Real Sociedad. Claudio Bravo may not be satisfied to have to be part of a goalkeeping tandem. He is at no. 3 of the 10 most valued backup goalkeepers 2014/2015. At 31 years of age, his market value is $11.6 million, which is still considered fair enough.
Navas’ performances for his country at the 2014 World Cup Brazil this summer were nothing short of sensational. Undoubtedly his role in Costa Rica’s run to the quarterfinals was instrumental also. So it was obvious that Keylor Navas would not be content to still be playing for a club like Levante.
The sensational goalkeeper was rewarded with a move to La Liga giants Real Madrid. His market value of $14.6 million shows that he’s good enough to start for many big clubs around Europe. But it’s unknown how often he’ll have to jockey for position with another arguable greatest of our generation. Someday will definitely see him as the number one role at Bernabeu.
Cech has been linked recently to loan spells at clubs like Paris Saint-Germain. Still he remains on Chelsea’s books. It looks as if he’ll have to settle for a backup role behind young Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois. Unfortunately if he doesn’t win his place back at Stamford Bridge, Petr Cech will be certain to move elsewhere.
For a time now, he’s still by far the most valuable backup goalkeeper with a market value of almost $25 million. He is also one of the best goalkeepers in recent years and still very much intact even at 32. People believes he has also fallen on the downturn of his career and leading the backup goalkeepers in world soccer.
There are so many fantastic goalkeepers in the world football. And especially Premier League holds the most of these most valuable goalkeepers in the world. Most of the Premier League Goalkeepers are capable of fantastic saves. They are also the most paid goalkeepers in the world 2016. Now, here comes the question of ranking these premier league goalkeepers in a top 10 short list.
Top 10 English Premier League Goalkeepers 2016:
Finding out the top 10 English Premier League Goalkeepers is a tough job. There are so many standards to be considered while selecting them. Here in this short list we are mostly emphasizing on these English Premier League Goalkeepers’ previous and present records as well as their market value or in other words how these English Premier League Goalkeepers are being paid.
Let’s find out, who is the most valuable English Premier League Goalkeeper in 2016?
10. Brad Guzan – Aston Villa F.C.
Brad Guzan is one of the only three American goalkeepers in the English Premier League history. Tim Howard and Brad Friedel are the other two American goalkeepers playing in the most popular football league in the world. He showed that he was capable of taking over as first choice keeper at Aston Villa.
Undoubtedly he can withstand as much pressure as anyone else in Barclays Premier League. He can be easily counted as the most valuable English Premier League Goalkeeper as he is at his peak form right now.
Ben Foster is back again to West Brom permanently this season. He has played reasonably well for the last season. And obviously some cases were like earning points for the Baggies. He is now at 30 and still a few years to settle properly into being a real class as being one of the most valuable English Premier League Goalkeepers in 2016.
He is also currently one of the West Brom’s most valuable players in 2015-2016 season.
Julio Cesar may have come to the Premier League for just one season especially at the age of 34. But unfortunately his team QPR have been relegated last season. But he was quite able to show the type of goalkeeping that has won him League titles and cups in Italian Serie A.
Even with his team relegated, he was a real team player. He kept 6 clean sheets over the season and playing for QPR this is extremely good as being one of the most valuable English Premier League Goalkeepers in 2016.
The age old Premier League veteran, Jussi Jaaskelinen is another well-known goalkeeper. He is currently the 7th in this list of top 10 English Premier League Goalkeepers in 2016. This campaign has only enhanced his reputation by pulling off some world class saves for West Ham.
And most obviously he had a good season with 11 clean sheets in 2015-2016. He makes 5.11 saves a game on average. Definitely this just shows that he can still make important saves at crucial times even at his old ages of 38.
Although Tim Howard is one of our pick as top 10 most valuable Premier League goalkeepers in 2015-2016, he has achieved only 9 clean sheets. Yes, of course this is not bad, but still a player like him worth a little more I believe. At least a bit better can be expected from the American National Team goalkeeper in Premier League.
Hopefully he will be ending this season with some more exquisite saves and world class goalkeeping.
05. Jose Reina – Liverpool (currently at F.C. Bayern Munich)
For the last 10 years Reina has been at Liverpool. Undoubtedly he was the number one choice for Liverpool at his time. We can imagine how consistent a goalkeeper needs to be as being a part of 10 consecutive seasons in a single team. This was totally impressive. As a matter of fact he was to move very certainly for more world class performance.
He had 13 clean sheets over the course of the last season. He was considered the 5th choice as most valuable goalkeeper in EPL 2015-2016. This top class goalkeeper still has an average of 4.17 saves per match, which is quite unbelievable.
Lloris have joined Tottenham in the summer of last year. May be he was not at his best performance but eventually he was found getting thing straight clean. Definitely he has got his turn with 8 clean sheets in only 24 games last season. This probably explains a lot about his price tag and our evaluation as one of the most valuable English Premier League Goalkeepers in 2016.
And of course he was a world class goalkeeper before joining the Barclays Premier League. We all can appreciate his efforts to match up with a very new world class Premier League.
Probably some of you have suspected this name in number one position. What has been a rollercoaster season for Chelsea and their supporters! Petr Cech has been a very important player throughout the last season undoubtedly. He has made well over 5 saves per game on average and he also has had 14 clean sheets in 2015-2016.
Some crucial saves have kept Chelsea in the running for a Champions League spot. Also his save took the team Chelsea to Europa League final.
David De Gea really stepped up last season. Oh, another noticeable thing is that he has physically gotten stronger. And his confidence has grown since his shaky first start in English Premier League.
Manchester United have only lost 5 games this season and that comes as no real surprise as De Gea has been pulling off some unbelievable saves for the team. He has so far managed a decent 11 clean sheets while making 4.37 saves per match. I think its good enough for a young fella like him.
Of course this is the one name that wipes out all other possibilities of other names to be found at the first position of Top 10 most valuable English Premier League Goalkeepers in 2016. He is the only other 26 year old on this list and has had his fair share of disastrous moments. But he always seems to battle back with his talent.
Most of the times he is found to be gaining some extra lift from somewhere during big games. He is undoubtedly the number one goalkeeper in England. He has had managed 17 clean sheets last season. Although Man City finished the season second, Joe Hart continues to grow and produce results..

In a match against Cameroon in 1990, he attempted to dribble past Roger Milla only to lose possession and allow the opponent to score a goal. He is nicknamed as “El Loco”. Higuita missed 1994 Fifa world cup in USA as he was in prison for a kidnapping charge.
Even the Colombian goalkeeper had a well acquaintance with the drug lord Pablo Escober and frequently used his influence. He was headlined for several times for abusing drugs. In 2004, he was tested positive for cocaine use. For all these reasons, Rene Higuita is one of the most controversial footballers of all time.
9: Joey Barton
Marseille midfielder Joey Barton is another controversial footballer in our list. Barton has done a lot in his life including a 12- match ban for a random spate of attacks on opposition, stubbing a cigar in a young player’s eye, coming to blows with a fan, and so on.

According to BBC, Barton was charged with assault in that incident and ultimately sentenced to six months imprisonment. He was awarded a further four-month suspension when he involved in a training ground fight with his former teammate, Ousmane Dabo. However, the controversies he provoked are distinguished for mere regularity.
The former Serbian defender, Sinisa Mihajlovic is remembered for two main reasons-for his wonderful free kicks and secondly, the frequent acts of indiscipline. During the early days of his career, when Serbia was tearing apart, most of his gruesome acts were happened against Croatian opposition. Most notably, the player named Igor Stimac, who tangled with Sinisa on a number of occasions and their clash as managers over the past few weeks is the remarkable one.

7: Harald Schumacher
He is very much remembered for the incidence that took place in the 1982 World Cup semifinal.
Schumacher deliberately took out the French defender Patrick Battiston when he was running towards the goal. He left Battiston unconscious with damaged vertebrae and three cracked ribs. Schumacher’s challenge on that day is still remembered as one of the worst in the history of football.
6: Luis Suarez
The Uruguayan forward Luis Suarez is quite familiar of being the news headlines very often. At World Cup qualification match, Suarez threw a punch at Chilean defender Gonzalo Jara in Santiago. The handed the ball by Suarez is another one to remember in 2010 world cup against Ghana. Luis Suarez is full of controversies. We put him at 6 in our list of top 10 most controversial footballers of all time.
Once Edmundo was named as the “most hated player in Brazil”. During his career, Edmundo ‘O Animal’ was a one-man wrecking the ball with temper. Besides his unusual acts on the pitch, he never ever managed to control his emotion for the team.
In his club Vasco Da gama, he was treated as a legend, although his time at the club was divided into five separate spells. In 1995, the drunk Edmundo crashed three people in Rio. However, he has never been sentenced for the incident.
For Brazil, he capped in total 39 games and was a great attacking midfielder for the country. There was no doubt for his abilities as a player. But, he was a tough figure to handle.
4: John Terry
England and Chelsea defender John Terry is very much prominent figure for so many controversial conducts. From an affair with his teammate’s partner to mocking Americans in a Heathrow hotel, the Chelsea captain never made his life easier.
It is thought to be the lowest point of Terry’s career when he racially abused the QPR defender Anton Ferdinand. Later in court of justice, the case was postponed due to lack of enough evidence. However, the FA later ruled that John Terry was found guilty of breaking their own rules.
Several on this list will testify that there is a fine line between genius and insanity. Eric Contana is closer to the line than any other footballer. His Kung-fu-kick attack on a Crystal Palace supporter in 1995 is regarded as the most infamous incident in his tumultuous football career.
The incident earned him an eight-month ban from football. On contrary, Contana has shown remorse over that event and he describes as “a dream” to his fans. The forward left French football under a cloud followed by an event when he threw a ball intentionally at referee during his time at Nimes. His other mishaps include kicking a ball into the crowd, tearing his jersey off having been substituted as well as insulting the coach Herni Michel, and many more. The controversial French forward prematurely announced his retirement at the age of 25.
2: Paolo Di Canio
The former Italian has gained his reputation (!) as both player and manager. His controversial acts always took the attention of Italian media by getting a repeated newspaper headlines. In 1996, his Milan career was ended due to an argument with manager Fabio Capello. He also had to leave Juventus for creating problems with the manager Giovanni Trapattoni.

Our list tops Diego Maradona as the most controversial footballer of all time. He may be a great player in football, but while the fairness of football is concerned, he is the villain who is leading the list of top 10 most controversial footballers of all time.

Cristiano Ronaldo is a true magician in football.
Aaron Lennon is currently playing for English club Tottenham Hotspur as a winger along the England National team. The young fella moved to Tottenham in 2005 from Leeds United and since then he has been an important part for the spurs. It has been a regular sight in the Premier League, that Lennon’s whirring legs eating up the turf as he blazes a trail past a opponent. The defenders fear to catch the white and blue flash of this speedy winger.
Aaron Lennon is gifted by an unnatural pace, which is averaged around 33.8 km/h. He makes his place at no. 3 in our list of top 10 fastest football players in the world. There may be a lot of speculation about Bale’s future at Real Madrid, but if they want to get rid of him, then they have to find someone faster. According to the study of Mexican club Pachuca (endorsed by FIFA), Bale has clocked a 36.9 km/h speed with the ball and averaged 34.7 km/h, which put him at the 2nd spot in the list of top 10 fastest football players in the world.

The European Championships are in full swing and there have already been plenty of shocks and surprises. Most of the leading favorites are still very much still in the running as we near the end of the group stage. Other prominent teams have grossly underperformed, however, and a few have done shockingly well. This has wreaked havoc on punters looking to cash in on the games but has worked out marvelously well for fans.
One of the biggest surprises of the tournament so far has been the goings-on in Group F. Neither Portugal nor Austria have managed to win a game yet, and according to FIFA, the two teams are ranked eighth and 10th in the world, respectively. Meanwhile, Hungary and Iceland are punching way above their weight as the 20th and 34th ranked world teams. As of this writing, after two games played Hungary are the leaders of the group with Portugal and Iceland tied for second place. This is the first time Hungary has competed in the tournament since its fourth-place finish in 1972, and the country will surely be looking to regain some of its former glory this year.
The 8th ranked Portuguese squad has looked remarkably limp and the Telegraph noted that Cristiano Ronaldo has failed to make his usual impact on the international stage. In the match against Austria, Ronaldo posted a rare miss in a late penalty shot that careened off of the goal post. The match ultimately ended in a 0-0 draw when the team desperately needed a win. Portugal managed to reach the semifinals in the 2012 Euros and are now very much in danger of failing to even get out of their group.
Austria has never won a game in the UEFA European championship. Since the beginning of the tournament in 1960, the team has actually only qualified for the games once, in 2008. Austria’s next match will be against Iceland and given the way the latter has been playing, it will be an uphill climb for an Austrian team looking more doomed by the minute. On a brighter note, the game might present the best opportunity for the Icemen to come away with a win and a chance to escape the group stage on their first ever Euro outing.
Meanwhile, Belgium (ranked number 2 in the world) will take on Sweden as Zlatan Ibrahimovich and company look to escape Group E. For a player of his calibre, Zlata has never quite produced on the international level in the same way he has for his club and this could be his big break. Belgium has an immensely talented, but still young, squad that already lost its first match against Italy, the current group leaders. Few people expected Italy to perform as well as they have during the tournament with an aging team that has a notable lack of big-name strikers.
Somehow though, the Azzurri have managed to upset the expectations of spectators and are actually looking like one of the best teams of the tournament. Few expected Italy to walk away from Belgium with a win and even the most die-hard footie fans are having a difficult time predicting this year’s games. But if you are looking to keep up with the predictions, the exchange at Betfair has insights for every Euro 2016 match for fans looking to wrap their heads around this year’s field. With several groups still waiting to play their final games and few teams confirmed for advancement, it’s becoming clear that anything could, and probably will, happen.
Since winning the World Cup in 2006, Italy has failed to get past the group stage of the tournament, though they were runners up in the previous Euros in 2012, getting thumped by a dominant Spanish side. But both Italy and Spain are much older now with many of their star players on the wrong side of 30. Italian captain Gianluigi Buffon is a whopping 38 years old and while he’s still one of the world’s best keepers, we can’t imagine him sticking around on the world stage for too much longer. The Italian back line still finds itself relying on aging stalwarts like Giorgio Chiellini and Andrea Barzagli while the midfield boasts three different players past the three decade mark. These are all world-class players on their best days, but it’ll be a tough sell to sustain a line-up this old throughout the entire tournament.
The Euros have been an absolute spectacle this year, with no one team stepping up and dominating the tournament so far. Of course, these surprises are what make the European championships one of the most exciting tournaments in football and we’re glad that this year is shaping up to be a great one.
The Argentine and Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has taken some off to spend some time with his family before the pre-season starts with Barcelona. The Messi fans are shocked at the news expecting he will be back again. However, he will lace up his boots for Barcelona later this month against Celtic.
Meanwhile, his Barcelona teammate Luis Suarez tipped Leo to make a U-turn and play for his national team once again. Even, the Argentine president talked with him to reconsider the decision and make a return. All football fans are waiting eagerly to see him at Argentina jersey and lead the nation to the world cup glory in the upcoming Russia world cup.
Of course, the word ‘best’ is pretty much decisive. And yet very hard to refer some few names as best while confirming the others as not best. Probably, so far, he has been able to provide the most consistent presence in central midfield. Alongside Spain National team, the 33-year-old is continuing to be a star for the Catalans in 2017. Of course, he had to suffer with the rest of his teammates, as from any perspectives, 2016 was not the year for Barcelona or Spain. But he had utilized his opportunity while winning the five major cup wins (including Champions League 2015) for Barcelona. Still, no player combines his dribbling skills with ability to split open a defense, makes him a true cast for the top 10 best soccer players in the world 2017.
09. Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Sweden, MANU)
The future world football fans are definitely going to ask about this one amazing footballer. Their eyes wide with astonishment will surely look for this one’s performance in YouTube or other sources. Yes, social media will reflect Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s clip reel of gob smacking goals. But the most surprising fact is – age appears not to be withering him at all.
Let’s just forget the last world cup from his career and consider the moodiest player in world soccer of his generation. The 9th best soccer player of Sweden is completely unplayable on his game. You can only witness his stunning soccer performance through the fields. Another notable achievement, Ibra has won league titles in Holland, Italy, Spain and France with seven different clubs. And we hope, the soccer world is yet to watch this great charming footballer at different heights in upcoming years after 2017 with Manchester United. The player is often considered as most handsome soccer player in the world.
08. Robert Lewandowski (Poland, Bayern Munich)
Robert Lewandowski has dominated since joining the German giant club Bayern Munich in 2014. The most stylish player has already scored 110 goals in 147 total appearances. Before joining at Bayern he also achieved 103 goals in 187 matches with Borussia Dortmund. He is often considered as the pure scorer in the Bundesliga. The 29-year-old was named the 2016-17 Bundesliga player of the year as he had 43 goals in 47 total appearances for Bayern that alone season.
Now a days we know that pure no. 9 don’t actually get the love they were used to, because of the hybrid attacking midfielders moving up the rank. But surely we can consider him one of the best finishers in the soccer world 2017-18. That’s why he has been named to his league’s team of the year in three straight campaigns, and Champions League Team of the Year in two straight.
07. Manuel Neuer (Germany, Bayern Munich)
If it was tough to answer, who is the best soccer player in the world? we find much easier to answer another similar question. Who is the best goalkeeper in the world? Considering the time right now, it is easily decidable that Manuel Neuer stands top of the table. He has been at least closer than any other keeper in 2014, even in 2015 and 2016. He didn’t just help Germany win the World Cup and Bayern the domestic double, his daring antics as last line for club and country he helped redefine the entire concept of modern goalkeeping in soccer world.
His crucial defensive interventions outside his own area and skillful anticipation prompt his national team coach Joachim Löw to describe him as the ‘perfect player’.
The world’s best goalkeeper had revolutionized his position as well as transcending it. The award would be more than just consideration of Ballon d’Or. But surely all this complete achievements let us to keep his name at least at number seven as best soccer player in the world 2017-18.
06. Marcelo (Brazil, Real Madrid)
The only defender on this list, Marcelo’s selection is sure to create some controversy. But you can easily understand that there is no better playmaker in the world coming forward from the back line in 2017-18. The 29-year-old just finished his 11th season at Real Madrid, capping it off with his fifth La Liga championship, third Champions League title and was named to the FIFA team of the year 2017.
Marcelo was also on the FIFA World Cup Dream Team in 2014, the ESM Team of the Year the last two seasons. Real and Brazil can always rely upon him both going forward and defending. In our consideration he is surely the most skilled defender in the world 2017.
If someone think I’m overvaluing him, just watch what he did during Real’s march to the Champions League title last season.
05. Antoine Griezmann (France, Atlético Madrid)
Antoine Griezmann has been firmly establishing himself as one of the premier players in the world. He led the French national team to the final at Euro 2016, and led the competition with six goals, winning the Golden Boot. In fact, he would be rightly named Player of the Tournament. This versatile player can line up as a pure striker, drop back into an attacking midfield role, or even play on the wing.
Griezmann has scored 83 goals in 160 total appearances with Atletico Madrid in only three seasons. He finished third in voting for the Ballon d’Or in 2016, was named La Liga’s Best Player, was named to UEFA’s Team of the Year and was on the Champions League Team of the Season. Only at the age of 26, Griezmann is shooting up this list in his prime. We place this young star as the 5th best soccer player in our list 2017-18.
04. Luis Suárez (Uruguay, Barcelona)
Luis Suarez had a slow start at Barcelona. This one statement says much about how good Suárez is, the rest of his career, which easily provokes us placing his name at number four in this list of best soccer players2017-18. Suárez’s impact on Liverpool’s electrifying Premier League title challenge came from not just his goals, but his infectious drive and intensity on the field. One of the very few players in the world capable of deciding a game single-handedly. The Uruguay best soccer player also had a decisive impact for his national team at the World Cup.
His individual brilliance assures his name with the extraordinary footballers list, even without any Ballon d’Or achievement. The great player was reported to attempt eight dribbles per game in 2012/2013 season. The 30-year-old has an unbelievable feel for the game and can create scoring chances from nothing.
May be that’s reason why he was able to win the Premier League Golden Boot and be named to the FWA Footballer of the Year in 2014, was on the Champions League Team of the Season twice (2015, 2016), and the FIFPro World XI in 2016. Uruguay’s all-time leading scorer need to attain a lot more to keep his position safe with the Catalans. But the last 2016-2017 session in European football has definitely been a tremendous remark for his individual achievements.
03. Neymar (Brazil, PSG)
Arguably the most purely talented player in the world right this moment. The number three of this list of best soccer players 2017 just turned 25. Its unbelievable. It feels like he’s been around forever. The PSG forward is unmatched with the ball at his feet, an absolute wizard with individual skill and dribbling. The Brazilian sensation can also be considered as the world’s best passer in 2017-18.
Since his transfer to PSG this year, Neymar has been an offensive force for the club. He was also one of the key factor for his previous team FC Barcelona. He scored 105 goals in 186 total appearances. He’s already helped Barcelona win two La Liga titles (2015 and 2016), three straight Copa del Rey trophies (2015, 2016, 2017) and a Champions League crown in 2015.
Brazil’s next great leader, finished fifth in 2016 Ballon d’Or voting. He’ll almost assuredly win the award some day, and is on a path to be No. 1 on this list.
02. Lionel Messi (Argentina, Barcelona)
I know, all you have already guessed the top two places for this list of 10 best soccer players in the world 2017-18. Yes, of course he is Lionel Messi, the incredible five times Ballon d’Or winner of World football is at number two. Believe me, its never been some awards only, I have taken Lionel Messi at the top considering the overall performance of his astonishing career.
Though, the World Cup 2014 was not a good memory for the Argentine. Never has a man been awarded best player at a World Cup and looked so uniquely crestfallen. Yes he carried Argentina to a first World Cup final since 1990, but was still criticized heavily for going missing – particularly in the final during which he spurned a golden chance.
He’s the all-time La Liga leader in goals scored (349), assists (137), goals scored in a La Liga season (50), goals in a club football season in Europe (73) and in a calendar year (91). He has won 29 trophies during his 13 seasons at Barcelona, including eight La Liga championships and four Champions League crowns.
Lionel Messi remains one of the world’s best soccer players, but such is life at football’s sharp end that he had to drop down a place to Cristiano Ronaldo previous year. But now with every possible reason we can remark him as the second-best soccer player in the world 2017.
01. Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal, Real Madrid)
These two have been the top two players in the world for nearly a decade. Since 2008, no one other than Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi has won the Ballon d’Or. So what separates the two of them? It was incredibly difficult, but eventually I had to put Ronaldo at the best because of his last years achievement with the National team of Portugal and Real Madrid.
He has been a four times Balon d’Or (last one in 2016) winner. who knows, now with this remarkable season of 2016-2017, winning La Liga and UEFA Champions League 2017 and being the man of the match he can be a sure match for five Balon d’Or. What parameters else can be found other than ending at Ronaldo. He is the highest paid soccer player in the world, best looking footballer, highest earning athlete and now the second best soccer player in the world 2017.
I think there is no one to argue, he has been one of the driving forces in world football throughout the year. In 394 total matches over eight seasons at Real, he’s scored 406 goals. In 265 La Liga appearances, he has scored 285 goals. The 32-year-old proved he was still at the top of his game during the 2016-17 campaign. Ronaldo has scored 622 goals for club and country, which currently ranks sixth all-time.
Who knows where this mighty best soccer player can end his footballing journey. His worldwide fan base confirms his ability and performance consistency, eventually which determines him as the best soccer player in the world 20117-18.

However, many of them forget that it takes more than just the want for wealth and fame in sports. A true sportsman has to be dedicated to his sport and become really good at it. Only then, the rest of the things will follow as rewards. Sports may be lucrative, but they are challenging too by nature.
There has been a huge payment gap between the sexes, which is still not been completely resolved as of 2017. There are two teams attracting attention from soccer fans the world over, two teams that should be doing far better but who are barely holding on at the bottom of the EPL table. And maybe Stoke City’s presence at the bottom isn’t that great of a surprise, but you do not need to understand the lines for soccer to realize that the bottom of the EPL table is simply too pathetic a position for a team like West Ham United.
Situated at the 19th position in the EPL table, Stoke City hasn’t won a single one of its previous six matches. The team only has two draws to show for its efforts. And it isn’t like the road ahead is going to get any easier. Stoke City faces Manchester United on Sunday. Beyond that, they can look forward to matches with Sunderland, Hull City, and Swansea.
Abysmal as Stoke City’s performance might be, though, most eyes are on West Ham United primarily because they did the impossible and stole a top four spot in the previous season.
The first two months of their campaign have only produced disappointment. The one win they managed to steal is complemented by five painful losses. Currently situated at 18th place, the excitement they experienced last season at their brand new stadium has all but faded.
Manager Slaven Bilic is carrying a lot of responsibilities on his shoulders, the least of which are the complaints the so-called soul-less London Stadium is attracting. Bilic’s team clearly had a lot of fun on Monday night during a sanctioned team-bonding night on the town.
However, Bilic was left to answer some difficult questions all on his own the next morning, specifically with regards to whether the team was drunk. West Ham has a match against Middlesborough on Saturday.
Winning that match could take the pressure off the team, especially in light of a pending investigation. If West Ham cannot win on the weekend, they are less likely to fare any better in the coming days considering the difficult matches awaiting them.
From Southampton to Watford, Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool to mention but a few, West Ham has a very busy schedule ahead of them. At this point, Stoke City is on the verge of losing the interest and attention of EPL fans.
While Stoke City and West Ham have struggled to find their rhythm, Manchester City seems set on running through the campaign unbeaten; and this is hardly an impossible task to accomplish, what with Pep Guardiola on their side.
Manchester City fans have refused to get excited about all this ‘unbeaten’ talk, instead choosing to wait until Pep gets through his first festive period of English football before they can judge his capabilities.
Over at Manchester United, it is quickly becoming obvious that Jose Mourinho might become the manager that drops Wayne Rooney. Rooney isn’t making Mourinho’s job any easier and, at this moment, Mourinho couldn’t be faulted for throwing Rooney on the sidelines.
The EPL is starting to take shape this season. The true contenders of the year have begun separating themselves from the pack. Only time will tell whether or not some of the losers of the first two months have what it takes to turn their fortunes around.
