Can Cristiano Ronaldo power Portugal to World Cup glory?

On Wednesday Cristiano Ronaldo broke another world record and became his country’s all-time top international goalscorer with 49 goals in 110 appearances. In Portugal’s 5-1 friendly win over Cameroon Ronaldo scored twice and he played down the significance of his latest achievement saying,

” I do not look to beat records. This happens naturally, with a lot of effort, dedication, with the excellent national team we have, a good coach. I knew that sooner or later it was going to happen.”

In spite of his modesty in this occasion, there is surely one achievement he could not possibly play down were he to claim it. He would become one of the indisputable all-time greats in football if Ronaldo could lead Portugal to World Cup glory in Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Ronaldo does not need a World Cup win to be considered great, claimed by Jose Mourinho. He may be saying the truth but it does not mean that Ronaldo, the 29 year old cannot be a World Cup winner.

Received wisdom suggests that in terms of quality Portugal are on a similar level to England and are thus it is highly unlikely for them to win the world Cup. However, anything is possible with a player of Real Madrid star’s quality. Cristiano Ronaldo has proved that several times. He is the type of player who can beat teams on his own, as he displayed in last November when his stunning hat-trick sent Portugal to the World Cup at the expense of Sweden.

In addition, his displays in EURO 2012 were equally impressive as Portugal reached the semi-finals only to be edged out on penalties by eventual champions and 2010 FIFA World Cup winners, Spain. The group stage of that game Portugal defeated the Netherlands, the beaten finalist of 2010 FIFA World Cup with Ronaldo’s stunning class. And Ronaldo is more furious and strong and skilful than he was in 2012. He is currently holding the FIFA Ballon D’or. In this season of La liga he scored 23 goals in 22 matches and 11 goals in six champions’ league appearances.

The reason Portugal are rare seen as legitimate contenders for the World Cup are because of the rest of the squad. But having some qualities in the squad it needs a little help for Ronaldo to reach his full potential. Players like Raul Meireles, Edinho and Fabio Coentrao, fellow goalscorers offered him a good support in the game against Cameroon. Monaco’s Joao Moutinho was a great help two years ago in Poland and Ukraine and if he finds that kind of forms once again Portugal could go far. But being the key player of Portugal, everyone will be looking for something special from Cristiano Ronaldo in every game they play in Brazil this World Cup. The history could be made if Ronaldo can see Portugal deep into the tournament.

Although there is certainly some huge pressure on Cristiano Ronaldo, if anyone could power an unfancied side to World Cup glory in this summer, it would be certainly him.

Top 5 tactical teams in FIFA World Cup 2014

As the world cup gets firmly on the horizon, the anticipation is building ahead of the first match of the tournament between host Brazil and Croatia on June 12.

Brazil are certainly be the favorite. But they will face major competition on home. There are plenty of challengers threatening them. Today we will focus on top 5 tactical teams in FIFA World Cup 2014.

Top 5 teams with their different tactics:

5. Argentina:

Argentina is a team with the richest collection of attacking players on their side. Diego Maradona or Sergio Batista shove as many of them as possible into the side and hope their collective talents will somehow win it out. Funny, isn’t it? But this time, learning from mistakes, Alejandro Sabella built solid base and then started to add the marvels.

fifa world cup 2014, messi and aguero
the duo of Messi and Aguero will be the key—-image via:

Argentina always have the problems of defense. The back four may lack the star quality of the forward, but it does have Javier Mascherano with Fernando Gago and Angel Di Maria shuttling alongside him. His main role will be to link to a dazzling front three; Gonzalo Higuain with Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero.

Argentina thus stays in the list of top 5 tactical teams in FIFA World Cup 2014.

4. Chile:

The coach Jorge Sampaoli has proved so popular in Chile as he described himself as a ‘disciple’ of Marcelo Biesla.

Like Biesla he often uses three backs that allows his midfielders to press the opponents as early as possible. Jorge Sampaoli will change the shape according to the opposition, just like Biesla, 3-4-1-2 sometimes becoming 4-3-3.

The changes that are made are all about identifying the patterns of the opponents and then looking to disrupt their natural rhythm as far as possible.

The front three is formed highly mobile with Alexis Sanchez cutting from the right, Eduardo Vargas on the left and Jorge Valdivia in central position.

However, for their technical aspects of playing they gain the position in our list of top 5 tactical teams in FIFA World Cup 2014.

3. Germany:

As it has been since the quarter-final of EURO 2008, the shape of German team will be 4-2-3-1. But it is only the part of story.

The Coach Low has abandoned a centre-forward to play with a false nine eight times over the past two years.

Mario Gomez misses his chance for the squad while Miroslav Klose, at 36, could be given the opportunity to add to his 14 goals in World Cups. It seems likely that Low will start with Thomas Muller and Marco Reus on the flank, Mario Gotze as a false nine and Mesut Ozil as the playmaker.

fifa world cup 2014, mesut ozil, german tactical football

On the contrary, the front four isn’t necessarily great at tracking back, which can expose the back four. Low’s attempt to make German team more proactive which has coincided with such defensive lapses that no side finished top of its qualifying group in Europe conceded more goals than Germany.

2. Mexico:

With a struggling qualifying for the World Cup, the new coach is now attempting to use players from the domestic league. He has returned to the system they used in 2010 World Cup, which in turn was essentially the style Ricardo La Volpe used in Germany in 2006 World Cup.

In some sense the formation is a 5-3-2, but there are some natural fluidity to this shape, with Rafael Marquez stepping out from the centre of defence and the two wing-backs, Paul Aguilar and Miguel Layun, providing the width.

Deep in the midfield, Juan Carlos Medina sits to provide a fixed point, while Herrera is

committed to a front two, usually Oribe Peralta and Javier Hernandez, so the formation can shift into 3-3-2-2 or 4-2-2-2 depending on whether the wing-back or Marquez advance.

1. Spain:

The Brazil-born striker Diego Costa gives Spain a bustling, physical edge up front and it may be the end of the False nine upon his arrival.

However, Spain has an embarrassment of riches in the middle. There has always been something slightly awkward about Xabi Alonso and role of disrupting the Barcelona trio Sergio Busquets, Xavi and Andres Iniesta.

But if Cesc Fabregas and David Silva are included in the team, does the team lack pace, is it just full of neat midfielders who hold the ball firmly.

World Cup Qualifying Teams 2014: who is there AND WHO WILL HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE NEXT

World Cup Qualifying Teams 2014
World Cup Qualifying Teams 2014

World Cup Qualifying Teams 2014

After all the play-offs been completed, each of available 32 hot seats at the Fifa 2014 World Cup in Brazil is filled now.

World cup 2014 will be staged in Brazil ( 12 host cities ) from

June 13 to July 13.

Now we can take closer look for the qualified teams from different continents.

Teams those can be considered lucky this time:

| Algeria| Cameroon|Ghana| Ivory Coast| Nigeria|

| Australia| Iran| Japan| South Korea|

| Belgium| Bosnia-Hercegovina| Croatia| England| France| Germany| Greece| Italy| Netherlands| Portugal |Russia| Switzerland| Spain|

North & Central America and Caribbean:

| Costa Rica| Honduras| United States| Mexico|

South America:

| Argentina| Brazil (hosts)| Colombia| Ecuador| Chile| Uruguay|

There are still some others who will have to wait only few four years to be considered lucky.

*Angola* *Benin* *Botswana* *Burkina Faso* *Cape Verde* *Central African Republic** Congo* *Congo DR* *Egypt* *Equatorial Guinea* *Ethiopia* *Gabon* *Gambia* *Guinea* *Kenya* *Lesotho* *Liberia* *Libya* *Malawi* *Mali* *Morocco* *Mozambique* *Namibia* *Niger* *Rwanda* *Senegal* *Sierra Leone* *South Africa* *Sudan* *Tanzania* *Togo* *Tunisia* *Uganda* *Zambia* *Zimbabwe*

*Iraq* *Lebanon* *Oman* *Qatar* *Uzbekistan*

*Albania* *Andorra* *Armenia* *Austria* *Azerbaijan* *Belarus* *Bulgaria* *Cyprus* *Czech Republic* *Denmark* *Estonia* *Faroe Islands* *Finland* *Georgia* *Hungary* *Iceland* *Israel* *Kazakhstan* *Latvia* *Liechtenstein* *Lithuania* *Luxembourg* *Macedonia* *Malta* *Moldova* *Montenegro* *Norway* *Northern Ireland* *Poland* *Republic of Ireland* *Romania* *San Marino* *Scotland* *Serbia* *Slovakia* *Slovenia* *Sweden* *Turkey* *Ukraine* *Wales*

North & Central America and Caribbean:

*Jamaica* *Panama (from final group stage)*

South America:

*Bolivia* *Paraguay* *Peru* *Venezuela*

Now we can talk about the successful ones for winning dream for their motherlands.

Top scorers, sometimes as we can call them.

Africa: Asamoah Gyan (Ghana), Mohamed Aboutrika, Mohamed Salah (both Egypt) – six goals

Asia: Shinji Okazaki (Japan) – eight goals

Europe: Robin van Persie (Netherlands) – 11 goals

North & Central America and Caribbean: Deon McCauley (Belize) – 11 goals

South America: Luis Suarez (Uruguay) – 11 goals

Now considering for Africa Ghana can be taken as the top scorers with 18 goals in six group matches and managed 15 points, more than any other countries in their region. Though they had to suffer a loss(1-0) against Zambia. But at the end of the day it was never a problem for them anymore.

Probably Japan has qualified with the highest points tally from the group stages. So Iran can draw out the special mentioning from Asia. This team managed to top their group despite scoring 8 goals in 8 matches.

Belgium, England, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain and Switzerland these are the only seven teams those qualified without losing any game. But Germans and Dutch were exceptional two who made the record of : played 10, won nine, drawn one. Amazingly both received 28 points of possible 30..

The United States made the maximum points from the qualifying group. Jurgen Klinsmann’s men lost to Jamaica, Costa Rica and Honduras along the journey to the final round.

If Brazil was not the host probably there were some others who would have needed a three way tussle between them. The three eventual group winners Argentina, Colombia and Chile. Every one of them finished with nine wins from 16 matches. But a remarkable 19 goals from Lionel Messi and Gonzalo Higuain made the difference for Argentina,.

A group of death in a multi-stage tournament is a group which is unusually competitive as the number of tough competitors in the group is greater than the number of qualifying places available for the next phase of the tournament. The unofficial term was first used for groups in the FIFA World Cup tournaments. It is now also used in other association football tournaments and other sports.

In what’s being billed as the strongest and deepest World Cup ever, 12 nations in particular could lay claim to their group being the despised “Group of Death”.

GROUP OF DEATH: Group B (Netherlands, Chile, Australia,Spain)

Combined FIFA ranking: 84.

Chile’s the wild card here. They’re a nation that’s rarely kept off the scoresheet and add a certain scare factor for even clubs as talented as Spain and the Netherlands. The Dutch went easily qualifying while Spain’s only qualification hiccups were draws versus Finland and France. On the other hand Australia has to be feeling a great deal of hard luck.

GROUP OF DEADLY DEATH: Group D (Uruguay, Costa Rica, England, Italy)

Combined FIFA ranking: 57

Group D will find Luis Suarez going against the nation who hosts his domestic team. The Uruguay which is also known as La Celeste boast World Cup titles from long ago (1930, 1950) and South American teams certainly have an advantage on European competition. They may have just peeped into the Tournament but Uruguay came within penalty kicks of a Confederations Cup win over the Italians last summer. Both England and Uruguay have twice played in the World Cup and each side winning while Uruguay purchased a 4-2 goals advantage. However that was a long time ago.

Costa Rica is UNCAF’s best nation and boasts victories over both the United States and Mexico in qualifying.

GROUP OF DEADLIEST DEATHLY DEATH: Group G (United States, Germany, Ghana,Portugal)

Combined FIFA ranking: 45

Group G is shaping up to be one of the toughest in the World Cup after Germany, Ghana, the United States and Portugal were all put together. It was always going to be a difficult one in terms of travel, with the remaining team in the group having the longest travel of any team in the World cup — that went to the U.S. — and it was made even tougher by a heaped group. Ghana, the U.S. and Portugal are all arguably the best teams from their pots and Germany is one of the favorites.

Behind the high level of competitiveness, Group G is also going to attract a lot of attention because it features Cristiano Ronaldo. This Portuguese superstar almost single-handedly led his team to the World Cup with dominant performances against Ibrahimovic’s Sweden in the UEFA playoffs.

To become successful in Brazil, CR7 is going to need some help undoubtedly. The side certainly didn’t get it from the draw, so it will be up to the performance of Hugo Almeida, Nani and Joao Moutinho to maintain their form so opponents can’t focus simply on slowing down Ronaldo.

The American squad is led by manager JurgenKlinsmann, led both the German national team and Bayern Munich. He is going to understand what the Mannschaft want to do and at least give the U.S. side a bit of determination.

Klinsmann talked about his team’s fortunes after the draw ended, according to the Associated Press (via

“Obviously it’s one of the most toughest groups in the whole draw, having Portugal with Cristiano Ronaldo and then Ghana, who has a history with the United States. It couldn’t get any more difficult or any bigger. It’s a real challenge. And we’ll take it. We’ll take it on, and hopefully we’re going to surprise some people there.”

Ghana may be one of the best teams in Africa, but they haven’t been at their best for a long time. The aging of Michael Essien, as well as injuries and lack of form by some of their stars have left them susceptible.

The starting match of the group will see Germany play Portugal on June 6 in Salvador and it should be a pleasure. Even if Portugal don’t win, and they are long shots to do so, watching Ronaldo go up against a team as good as Germany will be a treat. At that moment, he is undoubtedly the best player in the world  andOzil, Kroos, Muller, Gotze and Reus on the other hand will be as good as it gets.

FIFA World Cup 2014 in Brazil Can Still Be the surpassing event ever

FIFA World Cup 2014 in Brazil Can Still Be the surpassing event ever

World Cup 2014, which starts just over 50 days from now is being organized in a developing nation and still is in terms of constructing the mandatory infrastructure to successfully host and brace a worldwide festival and tournament.

FIFA secretary Jerome Valcke reported a month ago to BBC sport that Brazil is not totally ready for the tournament due to construction delays. As two stadiums in Porto Alegre and Sao Paulo are still not completed. Again the current political climate in Europe is not good enough for such festival. But its mere a hope that the hosting country will be capable of preparing themselves at the last minute quite enough to convince a lot of people throughout the globe and stage the event after 64 years.

Now we can have a look at the positive things, FIFA bringing the local conjunctions along the event itself. Recent announcement of $1 million television production internship program for Brazilian students is a great chance for them to gain invaluable work experience. Involving local students and providing professional training is sure-to-be thrilling opportunity for the local. FIFA is targeting for a potential boom in international sports business and the financial support of a global tournament. Remarkable economic impact from the boom in tourism has been projected. Including a total number of 3.6 million visitors to the country will probably increase 47,900 jobs in the tourist and recreation arenas, which would be a notable injection of revenue into Brazil’s GDP.

FIFA World Cup 2014 in Brazil Can Still Be the surpassing event ever

We’ve managed to come long enough without discussing football as for Brazil, which is probably the off pitch factor that this event can become the most successful party ever.

Football fans, now a days looking ahead to the fifa world cup 2014 are undoubtedly disturbed with so many questions like….

Will Neymar pledge his status as the future big name in football by bringing world cup to his country? Who will take the top scorer status this year? Will Lionel Messi finally be able to deliver a World Cup to become truly one of the all-time greats? Will Spain be able to pursue a fourth successive win in a world cup? And the dark horses? Will Belgium’s new generation fulfill their potential as they look? Will Uruguay try for betterment? Any African team to go all the way? Will England anyway get over their self-made restriction to the final?

So many international heroes are now present on Brazilian soil. Zlatan Ibrahimovic can be considered the exception, due to Sweden’s playoff loss to Portgual more specifically to Cristiano Ronaldo(who will bring unpredictable level of global coverage that in return drie up interest throughout the world for the tournament).

So far all the talk has been of the present. While the World Cup must involve the next host nation putting on a  trailer show to close out the current event. Hopefully this tournament will find itself at the intersection point between the new with the old.

world cup

What could be better for Brazil than to have the very old rivals Uruguay resurface as a strong adversary? A new-look Argentina side with Messi at the helm providing dominance will be even more fascinating?

The new Brazil team headed by Neymar winning on home is probably the one that can’t be ignored. On the streets and at the stadiums, the local mood may well be touching, as Brazil can recall hosting its last World Cup 64 years ago and consider the turmoil gone through in that time.

For Brazil as much as for FIFA — how this year’s event goes—World Cup will provide a glimpse into an exciting future. If Brazil successfully overcomes its last-minute difficulty and political problems, surely thy will be hosting an exciting tournament. And we all can hope Brazil would definitely conclude!

Some movements have been taking place all over Brazil since last summer’s Confederations Cup. These issues are raising concerns about security at the upcoming big event.

The Brazilians were originally organized to protest against increases in travel fares. Now they have gone on to include demonstrations against staging the World Cup. They are also protesting against the corruption in government and a lack of social budget.

Above all this, Pele believes everything will settle down. He expects for the event to begin. And as a matter of fact when the fantastic World Cup begins, all the problems will become of secondary importance.

Pele told CNN,

“We have had political problems, but it will be a fantastic World Cup”

Last year the 73-year-old national hero had to come under fire for his criticism of protest. It began at last year’s Confederations Cup and have continued on a sporadic basis ever since.

The Brazilian fans have found this odd with the current idol. Present Brazilian legend, Barcelona’s Neymar said to be inspired by the mass mobilization. He also inspires the issues focused on poor quality public services. Despite all these negative enrollment of the government, billions of dollars are being spent on the World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games.

Pele had to clarify his position,

“We accept of course we want the best for our country. But the players have nothing to do with this or political corruption”

‘So it’s wrong to boo the players like happened in the Confederations Cup”

Pele expects people to separate these things. He believes that the players have always shown off the best side of Brazil. So why not support them.

“Let’s support them, because this is a good moment for us”

He said.

The Brazilian legend is hoping, Neymar to help Brazil a record sixth World Cup triumph. Neymar started for Pele’s old club Santos before his big money move to Barcelona. Pele hopes Neymar is benefitted from playing in European club.

“A lot of Brazilians were annoyed when Santos sold him to Barcelona, for Neymar it was fantastic as he gets more experience at the highest level”

He explained.

Pele kept a starring role in Brazil’s triumphs in the finals of the 1958 and 1970 World Cups. He is hoping the current team can take their own place in such a fantastic World Cup history.

Though Pele never mentioned the Brazilian team as most favorite for the fantastic World Cup. He didn’t even forget to point at Spain, Argentina, Germany and Italy as their most dangerous challengers. But Brazilian football is still the best and most beautiful of the world.

Landon Donovan Dropped From U.S. World Cup Team

Coach Jurgen Klinsmann trimmed his roster to 23 players. Surprisingly an expected name is missing from the list. Landon Donovan, who was considered the best male player in the history of United States soccer, is out of the U.S. World Cup team declared on Thursday.

With 57 goals and 58 assists Donovan is the career leader for the national team. The 32 year-old was seeking to play in the world cup for the fourth time. He already had 156 international appearances.

He was the key player for the 2010 U.S. World Cup Team. With his great vision and threatening speed he provided the opportunity for the team to play in the second round.

After all this memoirs, anyone following the national team closely, will not be surprised with Donovan’s exclusion. Someone can agree and someone still can’t.

Despite his experience, Klinsmann had to make opportunity for forwards like Chris Wondolowski and Aron Johannsson. With Jozy Altidore and Clint Dempsey they deserved instead to be named for the U.S. World Cup team.

“I am very disappointed with today’s decision and I was looking forward to playing in Brazil”

Donovan expressed like this on his Facebook page.

Right back Brad Evans was also cut from the U.S. World Cup Team on Thursday. It was quite surprising move from the coach. There are some other names like – Terrence Boyd, Michael Parkhurst, Joe Corona, Maurice Edu and Clarence Goodson. They were also kept out for the team.

The United States has opened its training camp recently ahead of next month’s World Cup in Brazil. Just before the event, Klinsmann made clear to reporters that the roster spots are to be earned, never to be gifted as career achievement awards.

Klinsmann told the Associated Press,

“I just see some other players slightly ahead of him, so I have to make the decisions as of today”

“Donovan knows I have the highest respect for him and what is good today for this group is going into Brazil”

Klinsmann always respects for what Donovan did for U.S. soccer. But he had to take the decision, though it may seem a little rude.

“You give him every compliment he deserves. Unfortunately soccer is about what you do today and what you hopefully do tomorrow”

Klinsmann said.

“The group is based on what we go through together and what we believe and for today it is the right decision”

Landon Donovan took a self-imposed four-month sabbatical from soccer in December 2012. But he returned and played superbly in the 2013 Gold Cup. And he was relegated to reserve duty last month for a friendly against Mexico. Klinsmann said that Donovan lacked speed and insistence in training. He also appeared heavier than in the past.

Klinsmann also appeared concerned that Donovan lacked motivation and was too willing to accept a lesser role on the national team. Especially after his inconsequential stints in the Bundesliga, Klinsmann also questioned about Donovan’s toughness.

Still, his absence could add more vulnerability to the U.S. World Cup Team. The team has historically struggled to score in the tournament and no U.S. forward has delivered a goal in the World Cup since 2002. Where Donovan has five goals in World Cup.

“If Landon is on the field, he’s our top one or two players”

Goalkeeper Tim Howard told reporters.

Donovan had seemed resigned and excited while speaking to reporters in recent days. After conceding that injury and age had tempered his skill. He might have to play as a reserve. But he said he remained confident in his ability. May be he deserved to be on the U.S. World Cup Team.

He told reporters,

“I have to prove that, and I have to earn it”

Unlike his first appearance in the World Cup 2002, he did not have the youthful energy and excitement. Probably Donovan can see the game and I see the situation a lot more changed.

The Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar is the most successful batsman in all the ICC cricket World Cups ever held. With 2278 runs in 45 world cup matches, Sachin is the highest runs getter. Australia captain Ricky Ponting is at second place while the West Indian Brian Lara being the third with the average of 45.86 and 42.24 respectively. There is hardly anyone recently in the line who is going to challenge these great batsmen. So sadly in this 2015 ICC World Cup, we will not be able to see anyone breaking Sachin’s record. It will certainly take some time.

Highest Individual Score

South African left handed batsman Gary Kirsten has the highest individual score in world cup, which is 188 not out against UAE. There are few promising batsmen, who can be a threat to this record. South African skipper AB de Villiers, the record holder of fastest ODI century will be a threat indeed. However, batsmen like Tilkaratne Dilshan, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli will not just sit down and watch. Well as this record is open to all, every batsmen dreams of breaking this record.

In this ICC World Cup 2015, everyone’s eye will be on Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga who will still playing in the world cup and he can challenge the record of highest wicket takers in World Cup cricket. Otherwise, this record will be there for a long haul.

Best Bowling Figures

Again Australian Glen McGrath holds the best bowling figures in any ICC World Cups. He got 7 wickets in 7 overs giving away only 15 runs in a world cup match against Namibia. The record can still be broken and awaits a new leader.

Ranking before 2018 World Cup: 30th

Previous Remarks: Euro 2008 (semi-final)

The last World Cup performance was not satisfactory for the upcoming hosts. They failed to break the Group Stage with a tie to Korea and Algeria and a loss to Belgium. Russia National Football Team has only once survived a major tournament Group Stage at Euro 2008 (semi-final).

But definitely 2018 will mark their fourth appearance ever at the FIFA World Cup. FIFA ranks them 30th in the world makes their top 10 world cup betting odds a feat in itself. The most obvious cause is that gamblers never underestimate the power of home turf as it is already named as 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia. Fans do believe that, the Motherland can very well light the fire its footballers need. So, Russia is considered as the 10th choice for world cup 2018 odds.

Ranking before 2018 World Cup: 20th

Previous Remarks: World Cup 1966, 1990 (fourth place)

The Three Lions’ prospects tied with Russia might be a little disappointment for English fans. All things told their outcome from last World Cup was not strong cause for optimism. Italy and Uruguay shut them out of the tournament which was far earlier than anyone ever expected.

Even England’s superstars failed to keep on the previous world cup betting. Their total performance was quite underwhelming. Almost everyone agrees that 2014 was England’s worst World Cup performance since 1958. The last time they failed to break the Group Stage that time. Wayne Rooney, being one of the present generation sensation for English football, couldn’t also shine on the right premises.

Together all these fact can haunt the English Football Team in Russia World Cup 2018. England is currently believed to be the 9th choice as World Cup 2018 odds.

Ranking before 2018 World Cup: 11th

Previous Remarks: World Cup 1934, 1938, 1982, 2006

The most important thing is Italy will definitely not look like the previous time in World Cup 2018 Russia. The 2006 World Cup champions played a disappointing duo of matches this year against Costa Rica and Uruguay. They were sent off home before the knockout stage.

Still no one can keep them out the world cup betting odds list. Though there is a major issue about the Italian Football era as their veteran midfielder Andrea Pirlo and iron goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon have probably seen their last appearance for Italy’s national team in World Cup 2014 Brazil.

So, 2018 Russia means a new days for Italian soccer which is definitely chilled with uncertainty. And after all these equations, Italy is the 8th ranked team as World Cup 2018 odds.

Some will definitely not doubt to keep them in the world cup betting list for 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Sturdy victories over Algeria, South Korea, Russia and the United States in Brazil 2014 makes them one of the favorites for world cup 2018 odds. Hopefully Belgium will surely be capable of showing their abilities for the unusual betting over them.

Ranking before 2018 World Cup: 5th

Previous Remarks: Runners-up – World Cup 1974, 1978, 2010

Total football team, Netherlands played exemplarily at 2014’s world cup. Beginning with an unprecedented 5-1 victory over the 2010 champions and serially swapping through Australia, Chile, Mexico and edged by Costa Rica on a nail-biting penalty victory.

Being one of the world cup betting odds, Netherlands ultimately succumbed to semi-final shootouts with runner-ups Argentina. But their performance surely have assured the world that a Dutch World Cup victory is hardly a crap shoot. Currently they are the record holders for most World Cup finals without a single win.

Many believes that the Netherlands is a genuine push just waiting to shove. So, they should be counted as at least the 6th world cup 2018 odds in this list.

Ranking before 2018 World Cup: 7th

Previous Remarks: World Cup 1998

The Blues have delivered on much of the promise they arrived with this year tournament. Their performance was cut short by a loss to the champions Germany for their second quarter final placement.

France’s world cup betting this time straddle optimism and caution. As the blues are not that consistent in World Cup history. Last tournament was a major step up from their 2010 and 2002 Group Stage eliminations. And yet also underwhelming for a team that placed second in 2006. World cup 2018 Russia is definitely going to be a great opportunity for the team.

If someone believes in patterns, Team France is now slated for Group Stage elimination once again. But gamblers can’t but keep them in the list of world cup 2018 odds.

Unfortunately Spain had to endure a tough bag of Group Stage games in Brazil World Cup. Their failure to overcome them was this World Cup’s first major disappointment. Previously they were probably having their string of victories in international soccer—Euro 2012, World Cup 2010 and Euro 2008.

But 5-1 loss to Holland! That was totally hard to predict for any kind of soccer followers. La Furia Roja’s reign at the top of football ended as suddenly as it could have. Still being counted for the world cup betting odds, Spain could occupy the highest FIFA World Ranking. People must have already willing for their valuable placement in the world cup 2018 odds list.

Previous Remarks: World Cup 1958, 1962, 1970, 1994, 2002

Undoubtedly this is the team, gamblers would not bother to look for the present rankings or their previous remarks.

But talking about the Brazil-Germany game, especially after Germany’s fourth goal at 26 minutes, the entire institution of football and every press outlet in the world experienced the same feeling. The five time winner’s domination by the World Cup champions, especially in that first half where six minutes produced four effortless goals.

With no Neymar and no Thiago Silva, Brazil seemed almost willing to be pried open by Germany’s precision attackers. Truly their 7-1 loss was quite painful to watch from any kind of football perspectives.

Though lost in upset, you can hardly have the scope to keep the true champions from any kind of world cup betting list. No football fan could make the case that Brazil aren’t one of the best teams for the Russia World Cup 2018. May be sometimes be told as one of the safest bets currently at no 3 of the top 10 world cup 2018 odds.

There were hardly any complaints to be had about the runner-up performance for Argentina. A straight string of Argentine victories ended with a razor-thin margin in the final match. The team had to concede just a single goal in the exhausting 113th minute of unbelievable final.

Argentina more than held its own against the tournament champions. Many of the late gamblers would have predicted a shoot-out finale after they ran a superbly tight defensive performance. Current time soccer sensation Lionel Messi still ultimately won his 4th consecutive Ballon d’Or after a well-rounded performance.

So after all this conclusions it is just only reassured the soccer world that though Argentina didn’t exactly make history. No one need to doubt for the upcoming world cup betting with the Argentinians. Hopefully they will be able to keeping with the world cup 2018 odds expectations.

Germany’s trajectory included an historical beating of Brazil and historical beating of a host country. They have grounded with the 8th time in the final and fourth consecutive semi-final by any team in World Cup history of all time.

This is the country’s first World Cup victory as Germany. Previously they have succeeded with another three titles as West Germany. Now they can be considered second with Italy as World Cup winners. And propping up veteran striker Miroslav Klose to become the all-time leading scorer of the greatest show on earth.

Probably this time Germany is going to be your world cup betting odds, if your team is not able to qualify for the tournament. They are country nearly everyone know that will win.

Germany’s performance only leaves us with one question: will they be able to do it again in 2018 Russia World Cup? Don’t know, but surely gamblers will definitely fix them on top of the world cup 2018 odds list.

Primarily the spinner was named in the 15-man world cup squad of West Indies. Narine was kept out of international matches for the last five months as he had to work on an action, which was reported during the Champions League Twenty20 last year.

ICC Cricket World Cup|Pressure is South Africa’s Toughest Opponent

South Africa has always furnished such teams which are capable enough to win the ICC Cricket World Cup. But, because of the extreme pressures and forces above and sometimes their own doing, they have faltered at crucial junctions in the World Cups. The current South African squad led by the ever-talented AB de Villiers, however, will look to shed the tag of ‘nearly men’ and ‘chokers’ and give South Africa their first major trophy.

South Africa’s ICC World Cup campaign has been a heart-breakers’ tale. They first participated in 1992 ICC Cricket World Cup. Right from their first step, the rain Gods conspired against them that time and in 2011 World Cup when they were the odds-on favorites to beat New Zealand team in the quarterfinals but, their batting line up collapsed as they all failed to cope with pressure.

The saddest history: South Africa vs Australia, semi-final, 1999:

Who can forget the breath taking semifinal match between Australia and South Africa in 1999 ICC World Cup??? It was a small situation of a tied semi-final with Australia, who advanced to final because of a group-stage win.

South Africa were desperate to win that semi-final against Australia, needing just one run to win off four balls with a wicket in hand. But a major mix-up between Lance Klusener and the tail ender Allan Donald gave the Australians the thoroughfare. In the coming World cup, more than beating their opponents, South African team will have to push back the pressure and battle the demons within. They have been weighed down by the pressure too many times.

The prospects of Proteas

The scars of the past still exist, led by AB de Villiers, the most spectacular cricketer in recent times, it would not be hard to overcome the pressure situations. The Proteas will feel right at home in the soil of Australia and New Zealand. South Africa with a Classy batting line-up backed by dominating pace attacks, they can threat any teams in ICC World Cup 2015.

The bowling attack:

South Africa are at the same group with the defending Champions India. It may seem that, they will have a little problem getting past the group stage. But the bowling attacks with Morne Morkel, Dale Steyn and Imran Tahir, will surely cause more than a few problems for India’s mighty batting line-ups.

The batting line:

South Africa’s batting will be led by AB de Villiers. Yes, he is that AB who smashed the fastest century in the ODI history, off just 31 balls against West Indies, who frequently hover around the World No 1 in ODI ranking for last five years. However, his pressure of captaincy has not dimmed his outstanding form either.

And then comes Hashim Amla, another great batsman South Africa has ever produced. The solid batting skills of Amla at the top of the line, juxtaposed with the ruthlessness of JP Duminy and David Miller at middle order, leaves South Africa with a right mix of sanity and aggression.
